Good 2000's anime

Hi!

Most of the American cartoons of the 2000's are really lousy I know that for sure, however I feel that there must be some awesome anime I've missed this century due to work, school, family, etc. I'm a big fan of 80's and 90's anime, I dig action (Dragon Quest, Dragon Ball), general silly (Dr. Slump), romantic comedies!!! (all of Rumiko Takahashi), so any recommendations of newer series would be welcome, as long as they are tentacle free of course...

Er, is Goku the nickname of a friend or something, I dont get it, hehehe Over here Goku became a very popular nickname, and in my circle of friends we used to call blond kinds "Saiyans", hahaha!

Yeah, in the end I always go back to the same anime that doesn`t fail to entertain me, however I get this feeling that there must be some cool stuff I'm missing.

When they aired DBZ, the station made some real cruel moves on us fans, as when the series was reaching a climatic point (for example, right before definitive battles with Vegeta, Freezer, Cell or Majin Boo) they would start over AGAIN from the beginning up to the point where the series already was!!!!!!!! I hated them for that!
